It is with mixed emotions and heartfelt gratitude that the Common Pantry family announces the retirement of Executive Director Kathleen Trainor. Kathleen will retire in March.
Kathleen has been Executive Director since November 2015, after serving as a volunteer since 2011 and a board member from 2012 to 2015. During her time as our leader, Kathleen has driven forward the mission of the Pantry and explored new ways to serve clients.
Her many accomplishments include creating Common Kids in 2014 to afford students and families meaningful ways to contribute to the anti-hunger work of the Pantry, and spearheading efforts in 2017 to add a second food distribution day for clients on Thursdays. Also in 2017, Kathleen led a Pantry makeover to improve the shopping experience for clients. Kathleen’s endlessly positive attitude and broad knowledge of nonprofits have helped her build many new relationships that enrich the Pantry’s important role in the community.
Her time at Common Pantry caps a rich career of helping others that spans 35 years, including devoting time to subsidized housing and providing consulting to others in the field. Kathleen has had a deep impact on board members, volunteers and clients alike. Beyond her commitment to the Pantry, Kathleen has been active over the years serving her neighborhood in other ways. We know we will see Kathleen staying busy around the northside.
Soon, we will be announcing the appointment of a new executive director who will build on Kathleen’s legacy and bring fresh thinking.
Please join us in thanking Kathleen for her tireless service to the Pantry and wishing her well.
